Our New College Grad!!

We are so proud of daddy for finishing his bachelor's degree!! I know it wasn't easy to do while being the best daddy and husband & working full time to provide for our family, but he did it and we are so proud! The kids and I had planned a little celebration for him the night that Paige was admitted into the hospital, so needless to say it never really happened. The Kids made him a precious banner that said "we are so proud of our daddy" and we were going to make him his favorite meal...chicken enchiladas, and ordered a cake from Shelby Lynn's. I guess it's the thought that counts right??? Dean, we are so blessed to have such a hard working daddy and husband that makes us so proud. We appreciate all you do for us more than you will ever know. We love you so much!!

Parker's First Sleep Over!!!

Oh, I am so sad that we missed Parker's first sleepover! It happened when we were in the hospital with Paige and Parker was staying at our house with my cousin Malorie. He had a little buddy named Bayden over to spend the night. Malorie said they had such a great time watching movies and playing dress-up. I'm sad I missed it, but happy he had something fun to o while we couldn't be here. I don't know what we would do without our Malorie Jo!!

Presley's Day

Today Presley and I went on a little date, just she and I. We had such a great time! We went and visited Miss Mia and had our toenails painted...which Presley loved! She just sat so still and smiled ear to ear the entire time. This was the first time I took her so I wasn't sure how she would do, but I see many more trips together in our future. Next, we headed to Target where I let her pick a couple of new summer dresses. Then it was off to Party City to look for "Tuptake" aka "cupcake " decorations for her birthday party. We finished off our date with some Chick Filet for lunch. I cherish these special moments so much, just getting to spend one-on-one time with my babies...it makes them feel so special. Oh, I'm so in love with this little girl!

Paige's Hospital Stay

Ok, so here is a quick summary of what all has gone on with Miss Paige the past couple of weeks. We took her to the Dr with a cough, slight fever, and vomiting and Dr Brent did a RSV swab that was positive. We got a nebulizer to do treatments on her at home and I spent 4 nights standing with her in the bathroom with the hot shower on so the steam would help open her up so she could breath. After daily visits to the clinic and non-stop vomiting and horrible coughing, she was put in the hospital where she also developed Bronchilitis, Viral pneumonia, and Apnea. The third night in the hospital she crashed and her pulse/ox dropped to about 86 and her heart rate stayed about 220 and would not come down. A team of about 5 nurses & Dr Livingston and 5 respiratory therapist rushed in to start her on a cpap machine and move her to ICU. I just remember everyone saying we just need to get her stable. This was the worse night of my life!!! From there she would do better for a few hours and then crash again, it was such a roller coaster ride!! Her IV was leaking that they worked so hard to get started so she had to have a picc line put in her leg. That night she kicked it out and thrusted her decompression tube and her feeding tube out of her mouth and nose as well. Thank God she was such a little fighter!! The nurses couldn't believe she was only 4 weeks old because she is so strong. The only bad part about her being so strong meant that she had to have another picc line put in and they gave up on the feeding tube, so after about 3 days with no food she was starving!! We are so grateful for Dr Park for getting the picc line in her leg..that was our last chance for IV access!! After 5 nights at Washington Regional the decision was made by all the doctors to fly her to Childrens. When the Dr called they said no flights were coming in or out because the weather was so bad and after about 5 mins on the phone discussing her status they said never mind they were coming to get her the first flight out. That was such a terrifying feeling knowing it had to be really bad for them to want to come in the horrible weather to get her. Also, putting your 4 weeks old baby on a plane (yes, fixed wing because the helicopter for sure couldn't fly in the bad weather) in an ice storm. They called back an hour later and said they got out on the runway and couldn't get out so they would come the next morning. When they came they let one parent go with her thank GOD!!! We both decided Dean was definitely the strong one who could handle it better so the other kids, Pa, Nana, and myself headed out as soon as they arrived and got there about 45 mins after she arrived at ACH. Our experience there was not what we expected at all!! They were sooo busy because no flight were able to go the day before so as soon as they could fly kids were coming in like crazy. Needless to say, we realized what wonderful care we had received at Washington Regional!!! As soon as she arrived she was given a spinal tap and just kept on her oxygen at a flow rate of 5 and 100 percent until she was able to wein off which was another week long process with many more ups and downs! All that matters now is that she is still with us and is home healing more and more everyday!!! What an awesome God we have!!! Thank you Boyd's for coming to visit, it was great seeing familiar faces! We can't even begin to thank everyone for all the prayers that were being said for Miss Paige and for Pa & Nana giving up their lives for 2 weeks to take care of Parker and Presley and sitting in a hotel with them in Little Rock so we could see them too! We could never thank them enough in a lifetime for what all they have done. Also, Papa you are very much appreciated for all you have done! We love you guys so much and are blessed beyond measure!

Paige 1 Month

Paige is 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 3/4 in. She loves being held and is such a great baby. She is such a huge blessing!!!

Update

Message from Dean:
Baby Paige has decided she is ready to get better and we have in the last 5 mins been moved from icu. She is finally a sweet pink color and does not require as much oxygen as she has. As soon as we can get her totally off the oxygen and eating on her own we can go home. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.

Paige has arrived at Arkansas Children's Hospital safely!! Dean flew with her and Mila's dad drove her down. Thanks for all the prayers for safe travel.

Tuesday Morning

I just talked to Mila and Paige had a better night last night. They were even able to move one of her oxygen levels down. Please keep the prayers coming!! Depending on the weather in Little Rock they hope the Children's Hospital airplane will be able to make it out today.

Update...

Paige is headed to Children's Hospital in Little Rock. They are waiting for the snow to let up (in Little Rock) so the plane can get here. She will be flying in an airplane (not helicopter). She will have to go without mom and dad, since there isn't much room. Please pray for all to travel safely to LR! Thanks, Keri

Continued prayers please

From Mila:
Please continue to pray for Paige!! About 1:00 this morning the dr was called and she was very unstable. She was moved to ICU and put on cpap machine for breathing. It has been very scary so please lift her up in prayer!

I (Christy) visited with Mila this morning. They were working on putting a port in when I was there. They are very pleased with the ICU nurses and know that the cpap machine will help her.
Please pray for their family. I know Parker and Presley miss being with their parents all day.

Baby Paige, who was born January 7th, is in the hospital with difficulty breathing. She was admitted last Thursday after being under physicians care since Monday. They are still working to get this under control.

So this is what I typed up the night before her one month then everything got worse

Ah, our baby girl is one month old today. The poor baby had to spend her one month birthday in the hospital. As many of you know, Paige was admitted on Wednesday for RSV. After 4 days of trying to nurse her back to health at home and daily visits to see Dr. Brent (whom we are very grateful for the wonderful care), she had become so dehydrated from not being able to hold anything down and running fever, so we had no choice but to be hospitalized. By Wednesday night she was pretty lethargic and was so dehydrated the nurses couldn't even suction anything out of her. Her breathing was becoming very difficult and her pulse/ox had dropped to 86 so she had to be on oxygen. The first 24 hours she never really woke up. Once the fluids from the IV had a chance to get through her she became a little more responsive, but it was not fun because Respiratory began pretty rigorous breathing treatments and suctioning her by placing a long tube down her nose into her lungs which made her coughing horrible which led to more vomiting. I know all this was good since it was helping get the mucus out and help open up her airways, but it is so terrible to see your baby that miserable. We have been so blessed with to have wonderful nurses and respiratory therapists taking such great care of her. Nurse Ben has been amazing! I think he and Paige have formed quiet the little bond. We are on day 4 of being here now and the Dr just told us to get comfy because we aren't going home anytime soon, so please pray we get to go home soon. It is getting really, really hard being away from my other 2 babies at home. We missed Parker's first sleepover, which killed me. He has had a friend staying with him at the house. Thank you Malorie for taking such great care of him!! Presley has been in great hands with Pa & Nana and loving all the attention just being on her. I don't know what we would do without all you guys and can't begin to thank you enough!! We Love You
