Duke man,
It is hard to even begin writing anything to you with choking up. I am honored to be your daddy. I count myself as the luckiest dad in the whole world to get to have you in my life. As I sit and watch you grow up in to a man, my heart breaks because I know all to soon you will move on from the life I know. You amaze me little man. Your heart is so good, your personality amazing, your talents outstanding, your love unconditional. How many mistakes I am certain I have made with you over these past 8 and a half years, yet you love me just the same.
Thank you for letting me coach you, teach you, play with you, just hang out with you. I hope and pray that I raise you how God called me too. I know some times it must seem as I am being hard on you, but trust me son there is no bigger fan of yours then me. I see how you look up to me and to be honest it freaks me out and I truly don't feel worthy enough.
I love you like the girls and your mommy from a place so deep that it truly hurts. I get nervous every-time your gone, like the day you where born. I catch myself looking at old pictures and you and I where never apart. We have shared so many memories during this 8 year world wind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me be your daddy. Thank you for letting me be your friend. I know there will come a day when I am not cool, or my advice is not good or right, but I pray those days are short and these days now are long.
I love watching you play ball (any ball), I love coaching you, mentoring you, simply being with you. Your drive and passion is contagious. Your will to win and work for endless hours to be prepared is amazing at such a young age. I love how you love your sisters and look after them, I love how you love your mommy (never change that) she wants and needs that from you.
I pray for your future wife, I pray she is Godly. I pray she understands the man she is getting and I pray she encourages you, helps you, is there for you and trust you to lead your family in a Godly way. I pray all your dreams you have today become reality. You are nothing short of amazing my little man.
Trust God in all you do, the good times and bad, remember the lessons you have been taught and will be taught. Do the right thing when no one is looking, be honest, be humble, be fierce and never, ever say I can't. Give 110% always, nothing less. Be diligent, hardworking, never quit and when you get knocked down son, just look up because I will be right there beside you helping you back up, now and forever!!
We love you little man,
